Long time no news

Yes I know I promised to keep the blog up to date but I have not had a single minute to myself over the last week. It all started with woodworm in the barn I bought a compressor to spray the chemicals and the compressor packed in so I got it exchanged only to have the samething happen with the second then I realised it was not the compressor it did not have a fault it was me that had actually turned it off on the spray gun . Spraying the barn took 2 days and 25 lite of fluid. Then this morning finally my tractor parts for my grey fergie arrived pleased as punch was I until I got a phone call from our Albert (son) telling us that gates had been stolen in the night off some property we rent out leaving a sixteen foot opening. Katie and I travelled to Bradford to inspect the property I ended up building a wall with breeze blocks to stop illegal tipping etc on the land.
I have not eaten properly at all today and tomorrow I am going to hospital for a new implant fitting.

I will of course try and update this page with more relevant news tomorrow (If I get the chance)

Folk Clubs, Schools and Tractors

Yesterday I spent several hours contacting all the folk clubs that I could find on the internet with a view to Kate performing there.

I was quite suprised how many they actually was , but was more suprised to learn that only 22 of them had a actual address to write to. As I am doing a advanced course on website design I am shocled at this how are people actually supposed to find these places?

Some of them have elaborate email systems and others just saw we meet at the pub first thursday in every month but it does not say where the pub is, what time the venue starts or anything shocking stuff really. Folk clubs if your reading this put your address on your websites!!!

I also contacted a load of schools yesterday morning , ordered some sand (which I am waiting for to arrive) and collected tractor parts from Skipton. PV Dobsons actually on the Snaygill Industrial estate. now the reason I mention this company ios becuase I ordered my parts last week , I was promised them next day they actually took 3 days , I had to case them up then I was supplied with wrong parts and not only that the girl in the shop tried to short change me by a tenner -My advice Stick to buying off the internet and avoid this tractor part dealer at all costs.....

Finally I managed to get the door off my old tractor and have welded it together now I am trying to devise a way of getting the glass in stuff fell out why cant it just pop back in.

Found a website created on my space for kate very good but we do not know who has created it - we need to rectify this as soon as possible but at least she has a myspace website and the good news is it saves me a job!!

Harps , Tractors and Chickens

I am not one to normally talk about the weather but I cannot believe the changes that we are having. It has become quite cold again today and I have sat at the computer for just over an hour now sorting out Kate's marketing material and then I had to ring the tractor company who promised me my tractor parts for my Grey Ferguson on Monday only to be told they still have not received them .

The difference in temperature is that today I am finding it difficult to move and my circulation is bad where as on Tuesday just gone I was outside gardening and concreating the new base for my chicken house.

Kate had lunch with her Mum yesterday, I decided to do the same and went with mine , we travelled over to Otley where mum insisted in going in every charity shop in the place , eventually I told her I had had my fill and needed to get back home.

Oh well today is another day a visit to skipton this afternoon may be called for and more work on the marketing material I have posted a picture of the sort of thing I am doing - More later

Monday Blues

Well it is Monday and this morning I awoke with slight panic in my heart as I remembered I had left the sheep out all night
Then after hurriedly getting dressed I ran downstairs out of the door and up to the fields to see all the sheep outside perfectly happy they just took a look at me as if to say thank god you left us out for once.

This afternoon we dropped down into Keighley Town centre I bought Katie a new camera and video tape recorder so that I could do some more videos for the site. I bought myself a magazine , a car tax disc holder, and that was about it
Katie is on with making tea , as I write this and my daughters Lucia and Olivia are drawing on the table and they are very quiet

NO pictures today sadly but maybe more tomorrow

Valentines Day Wedding

It was Valentines Day and Katie performed at a wedding down in Liverpool , we set off early and found the church quite easily as I know Liverpool reasonably well.
We dropped the harp off and I went for a spot of lunch at the local Supermarket well proceedings got under way
After the Church service I drove Katie up to a local Restaurant which had a permanent Marquee attached to it specifically for weddings ,Was a nice venue and I did a quick sound check on the harp before retreating to the car park to sit in the car and read my newspaper.
We finally arrived back in the wilderness at around 6pm I ordered a Pizza and we set off out for a drive , a few drinks later we got back to the house suitably refreshed and went to bed as we were absolutely worn out.
Today Katie is making a new bag for the harps. And I am going to clip the sheep. I will update the blog again in the next few days.

The Ridings Shopping Centre

Yesterday Fiona Katie performed at the Ridings centre.

It has to be said that they have the most interesting car parks I have ever come across and we ended up having to go up two floors to get down to level two through another door no easy task carrying a harp a mixing deck a mic and a amplifier but we managed and I am sure it was just us that managed to get completely lost.

Anyway the gig went well it was quite hot in the centre , (notice Katies pinks face ha ha) The Lady Moyoress opened up the new lifts that were in operation and generally it all went well apart from the sockets for the amp been 7ft in the air attached to the pillars .

Today Kate is teaching 2 pupils whom are at a intermediate stage and tomorrow we are in Liverpool for a Valentines wedding . I will try and get some photos then but , it is always difficult getting photos as not everyone likes their picture taking , Yesterday it took 47 pictures just to get the one that appears

Ridings Wakefield

Today we are travelling up to Wakefield , Fiona Katie has been asked to play at the opening of the new centre which has just had a awful lot of money spent on it to improve it. We have been asked to park at the car park , funny thing is I do not recall a car park but that is probably becuase I did not used to go in that much . We will be having a early lunch and setting off to allow us plenty of time to get there. It has started snowing outside again.

The event will be a ideal opportunity to try out the new Microphone and also get some publicity photographs for use on the website.

In amongst other jobs I have got to check the car over tomorrow as we are going to Liverpool on Saturday for a Valentines day wedding ceremony . I do hope the weather is warmer then the cold gets into Kate's fingers and it has to be said she is just so professional she just carries on playing regardless how she does it I do not know.

I am finding it easierr to up date the news feed now using this new site many of you will recall that I used to have several months blog on my pages then the whole site would dissapear as it became chock a block.

Anyway must go put the camera on charge.

This evening I am at my Daughters school she has done ever so well in her school report I am dead proud .

Snow and Lessons

Yesterday morning I was back at the Doctors, nothing new there hten and last night I was at College , furthering my knowledge of website design . The plan is to set up a new company in May this year but first I have got to pass the exam and when I got home last night it appeared a mouse had chewed through my computer cable.
A trip to my Step Dads house was required and I finally got back just after midnight with adaptor mended but too tired to do much I answered a few emails and then went up to bed.

Meanwhile Katie told me she had , had a night of a few phone calls one Lady seemingly thought I actually played the Harp -Nope I definately do not I have my own personal harp player no need to play myself not that I would be very good with all those strings anyway I do not have the patience either but for those aspiring to play the harp Katie does actually teach and enquiries can be directed to her on 01535 642581 . The best bit been is she also hires out harps so you do not have to go to the expense of bying your own just to have a go and then find out it is not for you and that your stuck with a very expensive instrument.

Plan for this morning is to go to Town buy some ink for printer, do recycling, get back and I have a load of letters to write including one to my son I have not wrote since Christmas whoops...

Katie is teaching 4 pupils this afternoon individually so better had get a move on

New News Page

Hi there it has been a while since I updated the news page so here I am hard back at it.The New Year got off to a interesting start with Fiona attracting quite a few booking for concerts and Gigs. The first been at Bacup football club some three weeks back now we set off on our way in the car and arrived in good time. When we got to Bacup it was a white out thick of snow which was odd as we had not had any snow at that point., needless to say the event was cancelled till March hopefully the weather will have improved significantly by then.
Then the snow came down thick and fast again and we were unable to get out of the farm a Tractor and a JCB both stuck fast in the thick snow.It all made for a interesting day though

After a morning clearing snow which had been compacted down by the man in his 4 wheel drive next door we managed to get out skidding , and sliding in the end I used the Landrover and engaged 4 wheel Drive and thought well if you cannot beat them join them.

Kate (Fiona Katie) meanwhile prepared to do a event at a local hotal a private party seemingly 30 people invited 15 turned up ironically the 15 that turned up were from abroad makes you wonder how much people use the snow as a excuse when the roads are actually clear . If I had been the host of the party I would have been most annoyed.

Sunday came (8th February) and yet another concert cancelled due to bad weather .
Goodness I thought what are things coming to what happened to the good old day when we used to screw a piece of board to a length of 2 x 1 and make a snow shovel and then drive out . it seems we have forgotten what bad weather is. We have become a nation of fair weather drivers so to speak.

Thankfully we spent the day out and had a lovely time finally arriving home after eating at the Pizza hut we tried out Katies new Microphone before sipping hot Cocoa and going to bed..
